About Louise

My Career to date has been an interesting one; organising training courses for farmers, yurt hiring business, pampered chef consultant to diet consultant (think Marjory Dawes on Little Britain!) I've run a butcher shop and set up a deli but my last business was a lifestyle shop in the beautiful Scottish Borders town of Kelso. I loved that shop and the customers for 7 years and then I became a Granny and thought it was time to semi-retire and spend a bit more time with family.

In my shop, Cloud Nine, I sold lovely gifts but predominately Annie Sloan chalk paint, advising customers on the application, doing workshops from my studio at home, teaching the many versatile ways you can upcycle old furniture with this wonderful paint.  Having learnt from the master herself- I could decoupage, gild, transfer and many more different decorative techniques.

So, it’s turned-out semi-retirement wasn’t for me and I stumbled upon the idea for decorating shells from a small business in America.  I did a few shells for family and friends to such aplomb that I decided to try a few markets and as they say the rest is history!

Lindisfarne Oyster farm regularly has me rummaging through the discarded oyster bins, selecting oysters for decoration (with the farmers permission of course).  Not the best job ever and cleaning them is the most time-consuming part (especially as I have serious shell fish allergy)! After cleaning then the fun starts and the 7 processes begin to creating the SEA SHELLS SHE SELLS collection.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them.

With love Louise
